

She was always very proud of her service for the telephone company that is now Verizon. When Pauline left home, she traveled and worked in multiple places but found GTE Telephone to be the place she would retire from after 25+ years. She often shared she was a tomboy and was proud it. She was raised in Wyoming and loved being outside with her dad helping with his many chores. She is one of six children born to Thomas and Jeneva (Smith) Holloway. She was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church, knew the Bible well and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and opinion in class. She loved visiting with people and was able to make friends quickly. No matter how cold it was, she would bundle up and sit in the stands till the end. Carmen loved traveling across Wyoming with her family watching her grandsons wrestle and play football. She was an integral part of their lives and extended her love to their friends Pierce, Lane, Trigg, Sal, among others. If you knew “Grandma” you knew she loved being involved in her families’ lives. She moved to Wheatland in 2002 to be near family. Carmen also had the distinction to be named the Honorary Lieutenant Governor for the day by Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallen. She also served as the Payne County chair for Senator Jim Inhoff and Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallen campaign. While living there, Carmen served as president of the Oklahoma Republican Women. They enjoyed being involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren.Īfter Douglas died, she moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. After she retired from her career as a medical office manager, she and her husband Douglas traveled around the country in their motor home visiting family and exploring the country they loved. She served as a Cub Scout Leader, and was a member of Order of Eastern Star. She was fond of boating, fishing, sewing, crocheting, camping, and following her grandchildren's many activities. They had three children: George, Carmen and Nancy, eleven grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.Ĭarmen's life experiences were varied. After their wedding they moved to Chicago, Illinois where she began working in the medical field.
